Comayagua and Siguatepeque ready to welcome thousands of people during the Morazán holiday
Comayagua, Honduras. In anticipation of the arrival of thousands of tourists, both national and foreign, during the Morazán holiday, the cities of Comayagua and Siguatepeque in the central region of Honduras are prepared to showcase their best attractions to capture the attention of travelers.
This year, the Morazán holiday will take place in our country from October 2nd to October 6th for public employees, and for the private sector, it will begin on Wednesday, October 4th.
Various activities in the city of Comayagua began on Saturday, September 30th, at 8:00 AM with workshops on the history of the Giant’s Cave from pre-Hispanic times, the colonial era, and the republican era, held at the audiovisual hall of the Casa de la Cultura in the area.
On Wednesday, October 4th, at 6:30 PM, a concert by the Municipal School of Music will be held in the atrium of the cathedral. On Thursday, October 5th, at 4:00 PM, there will be an inauguration of a painting exhibition titled «Honduras Mística» by Honduran artist Ney Fernández.
On the same day (Thursday, October 5th), between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, there will be an Entrepreneurship Fair featuring crafts, handmade items, and more. At 7:30 PM, there will be a karaoke event at the kiosk in the central plaza, León Alvarado.
The program also includes the «Honduras Mística» painting exhibition by artist Ney Fernández from Thursday, October 5th, to Saturday, October 7th, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and on Sunday, October 8th, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Activities continue on Friday, October 6th, at 6:30 PM with a performance by the Santa María de Comayagua band (independent) at the Plaza de la Juventud, Paseo Alameda, Calle de los Murales, and the surroundings of the central plaza, León Alvarado. Between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, there will be an Entrepreneurship Fair featuring crafts, handmade items, and more.
On the same Friday, at 7:00 PM, there will be a folk dance gathering with invited groups: Municipal Folk Ballet «Indefolklore,» Siguatepeque Folk Ballet, La Mafia Alma Opita dance group from Colombia, Instituto Departamental León Alvarado dance troupe, and Instituto Marista La Inmaculada dance troupe, all to be held in the atrium of the cathedral.
On Saturday, October 7th, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, there will be an Entrepreneurship Fair featuring crafts, handmade items, and more. Starting at 6:30 PM, there will be a Morazán Dance in the atrium of the cathedral.
The Morazán holiday activities in Comayagua conclude on Sunday, October 8th, with a presentation at 6:30 PM by the Dilcia Mejía Ballet School and the play «Alicia en el Sueño de las Maravillas» (Alice in Wonderland) at the amphitheater in the Plaza de la Juventud of the city.
It was reported that all activities in the city are organized by the municipal authorities of Comayagua through the Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism in the area.
Meanwhile, as part of the seventh edition of the Festival of Flowers, the city of Siguatepeque will hold its activities in two locations in the area known as the «green zone» and «orange zone,» respectively. The «green zone» includes the Quality of Life Center and the House of Culture.
In the case of the «orange zone,» it covers «La Amistada- San Pablo» square, August 21st street (in front of the municipality), and the main street of the city leading to the central park.
Planned actions for the unique and secure cultural event include the ExpoArt and Nature program from October 5th to 8th, starting from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and the Book Fair from October 5th to 7th, beginning at 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
During the same period (October 5th to 8th), from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, the National Flower Expo Fair «Siguartasanal» will take place, and on October 5th only, there will be a coffee-related event starting at 9:00 AM at Cohorsil on CA-5 highway.
On Friday, October 6th, at «La Amistad- San Pablo» Civic Plaza, Crossfit will be held, and from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the Flower Roll event will take place at the aforementioned plaza.
The festival’s activities also include the traditional «Hanacon,» flower race, bird tours, the wonderful flower parade, concerts, and floating lanterns, among other activities.
Regarding the grand event, Salma Mayorquìn, the president of the chapter of the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATURH) in Siguatepeque, announced that this year’s Festival of Flowers will be dedicated to women who produce and innovate.
«We aim to showcase the cultural representation of our city in the best possible way.
